artist statement

( 2021)

I don’t stick to a plan while I create. I allow the possibility of material to unfold. To be able to capture a moment in time that can never be repeated intrigues me. My creative curiosity starts with contrast; light and dark, delicate but strong. The camera can serve as a social shield and yet a tool of universal invitation. I use paint to dance with interpretation and the many different materials as a foundational beginning.

(2017)

My work is industrially and socially influenced. Layers of energy before the Absent Generation contribute to my INSPIRATION. Surrounded by beauty in an unforgiving city hustle, I search for mana within chaos. Working and living presently, theories of quantum fuel my creative process. My art reflects magnetism and social reform. I use many mediums to portray conception, in turn creating an abstract dance with each piece. Art is not a job, it is my spirit.

(2014)

NHEATPASTE FORMED ITS NAME IN THE PROCESS BY WHICH I CREATED THE COLLECTION. WHEATPASTE IS A LIQUID ADHESIVE USED TO POST PAPER ON BUILDINGS, CONSTRUCTION SITES, OVER EXISTING WHEATPASTES, ETC. WHEATPASTING COULD BE CONSIDERED VANDALISM, USED FOR ADVERTISING AND PROMOTION, STREET ART, OR SIMPLY OVERLOOKED ENTIRELY. STREET ARTISTS AND GRAFFITI WRITERS RISK BEING ARRESTED TO MAKE A PUBLIC STATEMENT, WHILE CORPORATES OUTSOURCE AN UNAFFILIATED PARTY TO USE THE SAME GUERILLA MARKETING TECHNIQUES FOR THEIR PROFIT. THIS PAPER IS LAYERED OVER AND OVER, I RESPECT THE COMMITMENT. WHEN THE ADS FIRST GO UP I’LL TEAR THROUGH THE PASTE AND ENDLESS LAYERS OF PAPER BRINGING NEW COLOR TO A DULL SCAM. I THEN PHOTOGRAPH MY 'VANDALISM', PRINT, PAINT, RE-PASTE, AND BUILD FRAMING. EACH PIECE IS TITLED AS AN ISSUE. LIKE IN A MAGAZINE, A TOPIC UP FOR DEBATE, OR DISTRIBUTING AN ITEM FOR SALE. AS AN ARTIST I AM OFTEN BALANCING A CREATIVE AND CORPORATE WORLD WHICH IS HOW THIS PROJECT CAME TO LIFE.
